Braid (PC/PS3/Xbox 360)

It has been called the indie game that changed indie games forever and with good reason – Jonathan Blow’s platforming puzzler is, in our opinion, the greatest puzzle game ever made.

While essentially a 2D platformer, Blow manages to inject a time-rewind mechanic that not only mess with your mind but also require you to think outside the box to come up with the solution.

Braid looks like a simple 2D platformer, but designer Jonathan Blow manages to play around with your expectations and the game mechanic so much that youll find the game all the more rewarding when you figure out the solution.

Uncharted 2: Amongst Thieves (PS3/PS4)

Naughty Dog has many great Uncharted games and an excellent zombie apocalypse title (The Last Of Us) under its belt, but none are quite as much fun to play (and replay) or features as many jaw-dropping moments as Uncharted 2: Amongst Thieves.

When it comes to third person adventure games, its hard to top Uncharted 2

Heavy Rain (PS3/PS4)

Game director David Cage and his company Quantic Dream unleashed Heavy Rain on us in 2010 and while it’s more a visual novel than a game, it delivers a taut film noir thriller that lets you take control of multiple characters with many possible story branches and endings.

Quantic Dreams Heavy Rain brings you a detective noir thriller that allows you to play multiple characters with multiple possible story paths.

Shadow of the Colossus (PS2/PS3)

Game designer Fumito Ueda is a genius, plain and simple.

Day Of The Tentacle (PS4/PS Vita/PC/iOS)

It is interesting to note that both of developer Tim Schafer’s best adventure games, Grim Fandango and Day Of The Tentacle, have now been remastered and is now available on mobile, console and PC.

Where Grim Fandango is a great adventure game, but our is money Day Of The Tentacle as it’s downright silly and funny that you’ll laugh out loud even as you’re trying to solve its difficult puzzles.
